If completing high school just isn’t in the cards for you or another California high school student you know, then consider taking the CHSPE test. Students age 16 or older who are juniors or seniors in high school are eligible to take the chspe test. After successfully passing the CHSPE they are given a certificate of proficiency, the equivalent of a high school diploma. They can then remain in school or leave school early with verified parental permission. The test takes approximately 3 and a half hours and involves multiple-choice and written questions on English language, reading, and math. The CHSPE test can be taken multiple times if you do not pass the first time and is a great alternative to just dropping out.
