Myth: it’s great and doesn’t infringe on rights
Fact: It’s bi-partisan bullshit that needs to be blown out of the water

People aren’t recognizing that it is a symbolic protest to prevent the worst case scenario from happening. They see that these websites are protesting by censoring or blacking out their pages, and instead of taking a few minutes to read about the reason, just assume that SOPA/PIPA will shut down their favorite sites.

Hi Ariana,
I suggest you go here for some solid facts:

This gal first alert me to SOPA and PIPA and she stays current. Maybe email her and ask your questions.

It’s a big-money and very political issue, so it’s hard to get unbiased opinions. I believe Michelle is honest and follow her blog.

To me, the bottom line is that, yes, internet piracy is a problem and criminal, but the legislation was badly written and an open door to censorship—to put it simply. Governments always like control and hungry for more. This legislation, as I understand it, gave them way too much.

Honestly i haven’t been getting enough information about it other than rumors have been going around that a good number of sites can be censured under the new bill. Others have gone as far as to say it can be restrictions like china which i seriously doubt.
