Major Shortcomings

The "fix" approach of configuration management definition has two major shortcomings. First, the MIB itself has a limited number of fields it can present to the management console. This limits the amount of information it can provide. It would be possible for open MIB fields to include such information as the wide-area provider's service department telephone number and contract details but it is impossible to provide comprehensive network information.
