A very notable drawback of Voice over Internet Protocol Phone Systems or VoIP phone systems is the spotty reliability levels. This has been attributed as part of the growing pains of this new technology and it is foreseeable that many of the reliability problems can be solved in the future. Another disadvantage of Voip is that the geographical area from which calls are made cannot easily be tracked, due to the nature of the technology. These phone systems also do not draw power from the lines of phone companies and have to make use of regular power or power from other external sources.
