If one wants to protest against SOPA and PIPA, should one not use the internet during the blackout?

Kinda saw a lot of articles about SOPA and PIPA but can’t seem to understand much of them.

I have guitar covers of songs on youtube and they have the song playing in the background. Would I be affected by SOPA if it passes?
Also, I’m from Australia, not America
So would that mean I’d have to go to juvy in Aus cause i’m under 18. Would the sentence be any different since im a minor?

There is this thing called SOPA where the government is trying to eliminate all of the websites on the computer due to Copyright infringement. Why are they doing this and can it be stopped?

I’m a musician who posts videos on YouTube. I post a bunch of music ranging from originals to cover songs. As long as I am not monetizing off my cover songs, I cannot get in trouble. But if the SOPA bill is passed, could I be punished?

Maureen
asked:

I’ve noticed that many of the people in congress are putting whether they are voting for or against SOPA on their twitter accounts and Facebook pages. Do we have an approximate percentage of how many congress members are for and against the SOPA bill?

Steve

You know those statuses on facebook that tell people something and at the end its like “repost if you agree” or whatever? I wanna post one thats ANTI SOPA, but I havent seen one i can repost, and I can’t think of a way to write it that would inform people and get their attention to it. Suggestions for what it should be?
That is infinitely unhelpful.

Marvin
asked:

Right now everyone laughs at certain clips that the news media did. You know those clips that are so embarrassing that its freaking funny. If SOPA passes it will be illegal to upload that or to link to it.

You won’t be able to use avatars without asking for permission. Which usually means that you have to pay a fee to use it for a month or more. So it will become like an annual fee.

Oh that would only be the beginning.

SOPA is designed to fight online trafficking of copyrighted information and intellectual property.

What’s wrong with that?

We should protect copyrights and intellectual property. Right?
